Did you know that the Park Estate has 227 gas street lights?
๐ Each lamp contains a mechanical clock that controls when the gas turns on and off. These clocks need to be wound every two weeks, and their timings are adjusted throughout the year to account for changes in daylight hours. Because they are mechanical, each clock can keep time slightly differently, so some lamps may come on or go off a little earlier or later than others.
To help keep everything running smoothly, we have a specialist horologist who services any clocks that develop faults.
As the evenings get darker, the Estate team will be carrying out more frequent early morning and evening inspections, and any problem lights identified will be checked by the next working day. That said, resident reports are always incredibly helpful and often allow us to respond even more quickly.
๐ A huge thank you to Park resident Chris Day for creating an interactive lamp map that makes reporting faults easier than ever. Available on our website, the map allows you to click on an affected lamp and automatically generate an email to notify the Estate Office of the issue. You can check out the plan here.
