Green Spaces

The Park’s Green Spaces

There are three green spaces available for the use of residents: Newcastle Circus, Lincoln Circus and Peveril Garden (another green space, “The Paddock”, next to the Castle Tennis Club on Tattershall Drive, is owned by the Lawn Tennis Association and is not accessible to the public). After many years of neglect, the green spaces were restored during the 1990’s by The Park Conservation Trust, which added the iron railings and replanted the gardens. The spaces continue to be maintained and enhanced by the Park Estate.

Newcastle Circus, the largest of the green spaces, is also used for communal events such as talks, street parties, the summer Boules Tournament, Christmas Carols, and is the hub for the Park Garden Trail. Please see Nottingham Park Residents’ Association website for community events. If you wish to hold a community event in Newcastle Circus, please see our guidelines, and contact the Estate Office to complete a booking form.

After a residents’ survey in 2016, the NPEL Board made the decision to allow access to Peveril Garden (behind the Estate Office on Lenton Road) to dog walkers from September 2016. Dog walking continues to be disallowed in both Lincoln Circus and Newcastle Circus (a rule put in place following resident action in 1993). The decision was largely influenced by the survey, where approximately two thirds of respondents indicated that they supported the opening of Peveril Garden to dog walking access, but were opposed to dog walking access in both Lincoln Circus and Newcastle Circus.

Peveril Garden is available for careful use by Park residents with dogs, subject to owners cleaning up after their dogs, respecting the lawns and plants and being mindful of other users of this green space.

The access to Peveril Garden is subject to continuous review, and there are certain times of the year when it is closed to maintain the grass.

Please respect these rules, each other, and the rights of residents to have a clean environment for adults to enjoy and in which children can play safely.
