Earlier this year, we provided an update on NPEL’s position regarding the planning application for Dominion House, Castle Boulevard. You can find a copy of the full, detailed objection here. 📝
The application has been referred by the Planning Officer to Nottingham City Council’s Planning Committee, which will consider the application on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, at 2:00 PM. The proposed venue is the Ground Floor Committee Room at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG.
Nottingham City Council is one of the few councils nationally that do not permit public speaking at these meetings. NPEL recently participated in the Planning Advisory Service peer review meeting, and one of its firm recommendations was to allow members of the public to speak at Planning Committee meetings. We understand that the City Council is considering these recommendations, but if this was to change, it will not be in time for this meeting. Members of the public are permitted, and a large turnout will convey the strength of feeling against the development. 👥
NPEL has written to the Chair of the Planning Committee to request that one of its representatives be permitted to speak at the committee, as the guidance suggests the Chair has discretion to permit individuals to do so. Councillor Matt Shannon, Councillor for Castle Ward, representing The Park, Castle Marina, and the City Centre, is permitted to speak. He will be making the case against the development on behalf of the local community. If you would like to discuss the matter or express your concerns, please email matt.shannon@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
We will provide further updates if more information becomes available.
